Noise Dosimeters
Noise dosimeters are used in the workplace to monitor noise exposure through an employees working day. They are particularly useful when workers are mobile, meaning sound exposure is difficult to quantify with a hand held sound level meter. Noise dosimeters are small shoulder mounted units that can be worn comfortably and record the time history of the noise throughout the day, so high periods of noise exposure can be analyzed. Units like the dBadge2 measure all workplace noise parameters simultaneously to prevent setup errors. Some of the latest features such as audio recording and motion detection help validate measurements to ensure exposure is correct, and optional features such as octave band measurement can be used for the selection of hearing protection.
